Week Highlights
July 4th Festivities

Message from the Mayor
Welcome to Philadelphia for America’s biggest birthday party! As one of Philadelphia’s most-loved festivals, Wawa Welcome America! is the only place to be during the 4th of July.
Starting June 25, visitors, residents, families, and everyone in between can join in the free fun including live music, fireworks, activities, games, movies, contests, food and much more. In fact, the festival lasts ten days and there’s something special to do each and every moment.
On Independence Day – July 4th – you will want to come to Independence Hall for our Celebration of Freedom, where you will learn all over again how America came to be the greatest democracy in the world, and how it happened right here in Philadelphia. Following the ceremony, the Historic District plays host to the best patriotic parade you will ever see. The Benjamin Franklin Parkway should be your next stop that day, where your whole family can have fun at our popular Party on the Parkway.
The fun and entertainment continues that evening during our famous Life, Liberty and You concert, this year starring the Goo Goo Dolls and a few more surprises. It’s “The Largest Free Concert in America” and you will not want to miss it! Once the night sky has fallen, you will be treated to the third fireworks show of the festival and it promises to be the biggest and most spectacular.
I’ll be looking for you to join us for all the great events of the festival because Wawa Welcome America! offers all the entertainment, history, culture, and fun that families hope to find in the summer and it’s all here in the city where our nation began.
Sincerely,
Mayor Michael A. Nutter
P.S. Bring your Patriot Pass, found in the brochure with you during the festival for great discounts on shopping and dining!
